Jury

I think that it should be an unanimous vote between the jury.in a case like in twelve angry men, a less than unanimous vote would have ment death for the person who was actually not guilty.

Cell phones should be taken awat also. As to not cloud the jury's mind. But in instances where they need to know something, like how long it would take for a car to get somewhere. Research should be allowed.

PorK

"pork" is a name people have given to different investments the government has made towards stuff that is plain stupid or deemed worthless by the viewers. It upsets the people who deemed it worthless or stupid because they simply don't agree with it. Now some of the stuff is just
Lain worthless to almost everyone, but some of it I like and think was worth it. Like building the rainforest indoors, now at least some animals and p,ants won't go completely extinct. I don't agree with ones like how they are building the road for no reason with nine million dollars, or where they are funding companies with our tax dollars. But the politicions might argue that they need to please everyone.

Filibusters

A filibuster is when a debtor refuses to yield to another.

They could be a positive thing when used like in the movie we watched in class. During something very important.

It is bad when used by a law breaker, or political machine. Or if used against a group of people.

I support keeping filibusters, because they have been around a long time. And in times of need that people would use stuff against you. They could also help stop a bil that would be bad to have.

Death penalty assignment

The bad thing about the death penalty is how much it cost, if it didn't cost as much it would probably be used more. As if you kill someone, then it is an "eye for an eye" like the saying goes. As you die to.

But also, then your suffering is over even if you did something bad, so what is the need of killing the person? Wouldn't it be better to keep them alive a while and make then repent on their crimes and think about what they have done?

I think that mass murderers and such should be given the death penalty, only after they stay in jail for a while. But with money a concern, life in prison would be better.then the person can repent and be tortured pretty by for their sins and crimes.

I think that the most humane death penalty should be used. Ad it should be done by someone who knows what they are doing, so the person dying won't go through a bunch of pain before dying. Dying in of itself is a worse enough torture.

Self defense and such things like that should not count as being bad, which in most cases they aren't. Like if you get attacked and end up killing the person, but it was the only way to protect yourself or others, then there shouldn't be a punishment.

Search and seizure post

I think that the school should be able to search your items if you could possibly have any type of drug, weapon, bomb, or anything else dangerous to the people around you. Like when we have the dogs come in and sniff everything, if they find something then they should be able t g through your stuff to find what it is they might have found. Because it could harm others.

I am glad there are such tight security measures at air ports. But they are going a bit too far. Like with the new scanner that pretty much shows you naked, they should not be able to use something like that. It is awkward and indecent, and no one should see that.

Freedom of religion assignment

Freedom of religion is a very important freedom that we as people have. It is very limited though, sure by law we are free to do what ever religion we want. But other people look down on each other for being different religions. And even stores and tv shows are target for towards Christians in this country. I myself am Christian, but others aren't. What about the other religions? They shouldn't need to put up with Christian views on everything. Even in English classes we have used the bible in our reading assignments, some people got angry about that and I can see why.

Freedom of speech assignment

I think there shouldn't be limits on freedom of speech, except for if said speech is harming someone in some way. And then in schools or somewhere similar, there should be some limits on what can be said and done. Like being racist or making fun of someone, that should be a bad thing. Anything that could harm others should be limited, and if possible, taken away. Every should have freedom of speech, no matter what race, age, gender, sexuality, religion, anything like that. We are all people, and we all deserve rights, especially one as important as this one.

First blog assignment

Moammar Gadhafi was the leader of Libya for a short while. He seemed kind of violent and too, away some rights of the people there and replaced them with his ideals.

He was then kicked out and claimed he was a figure head more then a leader at the time.

All of his governmental power was taken away during the battle of tripoli, and with him killing people for protesting. He was then wanted for crimes against humanity. And was captured later on and he got killed during that.

I am hoping Libya straightens back up and becomes a better nations. Maybe they will become greater then what they where before and will become more peaceful.

It could make the united states look violent, or it could make it look like we want to help others by getting rid of their violent leaders or terrorist.
